Visual inspection level 1+2 (VT1+2) training and testing according to DIN EN ISO 9712
Visual inspection (VT1+2) is one of the most important methods in non-destructive testing (NDT) and plays a central role in quality assurance. It not only enables the classification and quantitative recording of surface defects, but is also capable of evaluating them.
This makes visual inspection an indispensable method in inspection and maintenance practices across a wide range of industries. The visual inspection training course according to DIN EN ISO 9712 is aimed at professionals who want to take their knowledge and skills in visual inspection to the next level.
The training includes theoretical and practical content that equips participants with the necessary skills to identify and assess defects, deviations in shape and form. It is specifically designed for the inspection of welds, castings, and rolled materials. The course is divided into two levels, which can be booked separately or in combination.
Level 1: Physical principles of visual inspection I
- Introduction to the requirements for visual inspection
- Work techniques and tools for effective error detection
- Practical application examples of visual inspection
- Examination of manufacturing-related imperfections in components
Level 2: Physical principles of visual inspection II
- Detail detection in visual inspection: How can even the smallest defects be reliably identified?
- Use of internal viewing devices for inspecting hard-to-reach areas
- Control and monitoring of indirect visual inspection systems
- Error Analysis II: Dealing with Operationally Induced Imperfections
- Evaluation of visual inspection results and documentation
The entire course comprises 6 days , during which both theoretical foundations and practical examinations are conducted. Upon completion of the training, participants can take their Level 1 or Level 2 exam , which takes place on an additional examination day . The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 15 people to ensure intensive support and individual attention.

Why perform a visual inspection according to DIN EN ISO 9712?
DIN EN ISO 9712 is the international standard for the qualification of inspection personnel in non-destructive testing. It ensures that inspectors worldwide possess the necessary knowledge and skills to meet the high demands of industry. Visual inspection is the simplest and most effective method for detecting surface defects and ensuring that products meet the desired quality standards.
With the visual inspection level 1+2 training according to DIN EN ISO 9712 you are ideally equipped to work successfully in non-destructive testing and to professionally monitor the quality of welds, castings and rolled material.
